AtomBeam® is a data compaction software company that shrinks, secures and speeds data transmission. Focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), its artificial intelligence (AI) and data compaction model outperforms current data compression technology an average of 70 – 80 percent. AtomBeam software is effective with any size data and excels at transmitting small IoT data packets. AtomBeam licenses its software to manufacturers of IoT devices, IoT gateways, edge and data center servers and cloud storage systems. With a fast, light code, AtomBeam can be embedded in virtually any network, firmware, CPU or connected IoT device. AtomBeam has been operating since 2017 and is a private company based in Moraga, California.

AtomBeam’s mission is to become the universal standard in IoT data transmission and storage. AtomBeam is highly versatile with uses that include IoT, cloud backup and storage, connected cars, edge computing, remote sensors, satellite communications, and many more.

Charles Yeomans, CEO

Charles has over 30 years of experience in executive management, technology, investment banking, private equity investment and M&A. He has served as CEO and a COO of organizations ranging from technology to finance including Trigemina, Portal Group Holdings, and Frenkel & Co. He was EVP at Ultralink and an investment banker with Drexel Burnham Lambert. Charles holds an MBA from Stanford, an AB from Kenyon College, and was also an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy.

Asghar Riahi, Founder & CTO

Asghar is a technology innovator, with over 28 years of international experience in IT solutions focusing on cloud storage, virtualization, security, and disaster recovery solutions. He has held senior positions at RedHat, Seagate, Hewlett Packard, Siemens and UC Berkeley. Asghar holds an MS in Computer Science from Vienna University of Technology and served as chairman for the Open Compute Project (OCP) Storage Project from 2013 – 2016.

 

Michael Leonard, CFO

Mike has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, financial management and senior level operations management and has the proven ability to raise business capital. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has served as CFO for several insurance brokerages, including USI Holdings, Inc. Since USI, Mr. Leonard has expanded his role to include senior level operations management as CFO/COO of two regional insurance services firms.

 

Dave Smith, Chief Digital Officer

David is a highly motivated, results-driven IOT leader with a proven track record of innovating, developing, and delivering strategic visions with a key focus on wireless technologies. Most recently David was the CTO of MultiTech Systems, Inc. where he drove product transitions into the latest 5G and LPWAN technologies. David began his career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as one of the principal designers of the JPL Hypercube supercomputer and has held subsequent positions at Stratasys, ConferTech and founding his own consulting company ICON Engineering. David holds a BS ECE from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. As a designated Ambassador for the LoRa Alliance, David has also co-chaired the Certification Committee and chaired the Regional Parameters Work Group within the LoRa Alliance, helping to drive worldwide adoption of LoRaWAN technology.

Joshua Cooper, PhD, Chief Scientist

Josh is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina and Data Science/Machine Learning Consultant. He holds a BS in Mathematics and Linguistics from MIT and PhD in Mathematics (Extremal Combinatorics) from UCSD and has published 40+ papers on a variety of subjects in discrete mathematics and computer science.  Specialties: Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science (more specifically: Quasirandomness/Discrepancy, Spectral Graph/Hypergraph Theory, Discrete/Computational Geometry, Universal Cycles, Combinatorial Number Theory, Coding Theory, Extremal Combinatorics, Permutation Patterns, Stochastic Processes, Information Theory, Combinatorial Algorithms, Complexity Theory, Cryptography) and Data Science (Data Mining, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics/NLP, Sentiment/Emotional Analysis).

Dave is a seasoned senior executive with over 25 years’ experience in sales, marketing, and business development. Dave has a strong background in networking, cloud storage, virtualization, and WAN optimization. Dave has global experience in both enterprise and service provider markets. He has served as VP of Sales and/or Business Development at Ipanema (InfoVista), Expand Networks (Riverbed), Procket Networks (Cisco), Sentient Networks (Cisco), and Fore Systems (Marconi).

Mojgan Haddad, PhD, Advisor

Mojgan serves as a Scientific Advisor to AtomBeam. She is a Senior Director, Bioinformatics & Software at Talis Biomedical Corp. She has also held executive positions at HealthTell and Monogram Biosciences. Mojgan received her Ph.D. in Computer Science, and her master’s in computer science/Artificial Intelligence from Vienna University of Technology in Austria and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Francisco in Mathematical and Computational Biology. She has published extensively in the area of data science and machine learning for personalized medicine.

 

Toby Tobaccowala, Advisor

Toby is an active advisor to emerging technology companies. He has served as a Senior Advisor at Tailwind Capital Group, President and EVP at AppNet (acquired by CommerceOne) and was CEO of Commerce Direct International. Toby had a 23-year career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where he served as SBU President, among other executive positions in retail, financial and telecommunications business units. He serves on the board of numerous companies including Olixir Technologies, RedShift Networks, and 360Fresh. He holds an MBA from Bajaj Institute of Management (India), and a BSEE from Majaraja Shivajiroa University (India).

 

Joel Wineland, Advisor

Joel serves as Racklive’s Chief Technology Officer leading technology strategy, manufacturing automation and product engineering. He has more than 17 years of experience in the computer hardware industry in leadership, product development, and engineering roles for companies including Dell, Avnet and Rackspace.  He was a founding member of the Open Compute Incubation Committee.

Farid Yavari, Advisor

Farid joined AtomBeam as an advisor since its inception.  Farid’s decades of experience in the high-tech industry includes technology leadership in hyper-scale storage solutions and developing strategy and vision for enterprise class data center deployments at scale. Farid was also a senior member of eBay and PayPal’s data center infrastructure team working closely with the storage industry to drive innovation and shape the future of the storage technology.  Farid currently holds a leadership position at one of the major server and storage solution providers in the industry.  Farid holds a BS in Computer Science from Physikalisch-Technische Leranstalt Wedel.

 

Greg Caltabiano, Advisor

Greg has over 30 years of operating experience in IoT, data analytics & AI, cloud computing, high speed networking and wireless — including over 15 years of work experience in Japan, Hong Kong/China, Israel and France. Most recently he was CEO of ACCO Semiconductor, and previously served as CEO of Teknovus, and COO of SOMA Networks. He has also held technical and management positions at IBM and Honeywell/Data Instruments and currently serves as an advisor to Point2 Technology and SmartCloud. Greg holds an MBA from Stanford and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton. Mr. Caltabiano also completed post-graduate studies at the Inter-University Center in Tokyo and Executive Education at INSEAD in France.

Dave Friedman, Advisor

Dave is founder, executive chairman, and CSO of Ayla Networks, one of the leading software companies in IoT, and is regarded as a leading expert in IoT. Prior to founding Ayla, Dave served as vice president, business development and senior director, strategic marketing for ZeroG Wireless, a company providing low-power Wi-Fi products to the embedded space. Prior to ZeroG, Dave was an early employee at Matrix Semiconductor, serving in various sales and marketing roles before Matrix was acquired by SanDisk. In earlier roles, Dave helped drive pricing strategy at Intel and was an analyst in the mergers and acquisitions group at Chase Bank. Dave has an MBA from University of Michigan and a BA from Colgate University. He holds five US patents.

Andrei Khurshudov, PhD, Advisor

Dr. Andrei Khurshudov is a Chief Data Officer at Formulus Black, a New Jersey-area startup which is developing software for in-memory computing. Prior to this position, Dr. Khurshudov served as a CTO and Chief Data Officer at Alchemy IoT, a Boulder-area startup creating cloud-based analytics solutions for the Internet of Things.

Andrei has spent more than 10 years at Seagate, where he was a Chief Technologist and managed various R&D organizations in such areas as big data analytics, cloud technology, quality and reliability, and others. While at Seagate, Andrei created the Big Data Analytics and Insights organization, which focused on applying advanced analytics and machine learning concepts to product quality, reliability, manufacturing, and remote device monitoring, as well as finances, sales, pricing, and other critical areas where data-driven decisions are important.

Andrei has a PhD in Engineering and, prior to joining Seagate, worked at such companies as IBM, Hitachi Global Storage, and Samsung. Andrei has numerous publications, patents, conference presentations and a book.
