Q: Is AtomBeam selling perpetual licenses or subscription agreements, and where will the technology sit in the ecosystem?
A: We are working to sell long term subscription licenses. In general, the pricing model is based on (a) non-recurring engineering for upfront custom work we do for that customer, if applicable (b) an annual or monthly charge per AtomBeam-equipped server, and (c) an annual or monthly charge for each device connected to the server. There is much arm-wrestling over such things as sensors connected via a gateway that is in turn connected to the server and so forth. But the overarching goal is to reach a relatively low-cost, simple approach that encourages mass adoption. We believe our value has much higher potential if we are in many millions of things, or even billions, even if the revenue per device is low.
